Fiesta De Noche Buena — a Marathon holiday tradition

Fiesta de Noche Buena is a Marathon tradition going back to the 1990s when the Chamber of Commerce got a handful of businesses together to host a festive evening on the town.

Ever since then, Noche Buena has brought people together to ring in the holidays small town style. It always falls on the evening of the first Saturday in December and takes place along the main strip.

We do what we can to make it special. One year there were hay rides. Another year there were mariachis! The children of Marathon always show up. They may put on a dance performance or sing carols— or both!

Twinkly lights create a lot of drama at nightfall— great for holiday photos. Noche Buena is our chance to show off local businesses, artists, musicians and talent.

There are many creative people in Marathon who help define our friendly, unique and independent culture. We have a lot going on for a town with a population of less than 400 and we're proud of our residents!

Businesses and art galleries stay open late. Our small businesses, along with volunteer organizations, form the backbone of our community. They always show up to bring holiday cheer— and refreshments!

Marathon Independent School District Parent Teacher Organization brings delicious street fare, from brisket to tacos. And Marathon Volunteer Fire Department is on site with grilled burgers and hot dogs.

12 Gage Restaurant offers live music with its dinner service and French Co. Grocer always has something cool happening on their patio, like churros, s'mores and hot spiced rum! Bring the kids to see Santa and Mrs. Claus in the lobby of Trans Pecos Bank. Isn't our Mrs. Claus the cutest?!

Fiesta de Noche Buena is the most welcoming and heartwarming kind of holiday street party you'll find. It's a slice of small town Texas at its finest.

We invite you to make Noche Buena a part of your holiday tradition in Far West Texas!

Everyone is welcome!
